"To: Me Love, Me" by Kimberly Douglas©

Updated: Mar 25, 2022

Please enjoy the poem.

I used to fall victim to the hands of societal convention

so sure of myself yet still longing to be accepted

too many days I sat staring out a window

awaiting others to deliver their opinion of my actions

like a UPS package

but I got tired of contorting my personality to fit comfortably into a mould

had to catch my breath from chasing the world’s validation

the overexertion of my identity became bad for my health

so I stopped day dreaming

about love letters from others

and started crafting them to myself

to: me

love, me

Personal favourite lines:

"too many days I sat staring out a window awaiting others to deliver their opinion of my actions like a UPS package"

"had to catch my breath from chasing the world’s validation"

"the overexertion of my identity became bad for my health"

"I stopped day dreaming about love letters from others and started crafting them to myself"
